The Butte County Recorder's Office stated that the signatures submitted for Congressman Sean Morgan's recall work only had 19 valid signatures because some of them did not match the signatures on the voter registration card. One of the 20 required to continue this process.

Chico, California - After Butte County said that some of the signatures were invalid, the local recall stopped again.

The Chico Voters team continues to promote leadership changes.

As the letter of intent was rejected due to invalid signatures, efforts to recall the first district councilor Sean Morgan stopped.

20 signatures are required to continue the recall work.

"When you provide someone with a recall document, they must be accurate," said Debbie Presson, a Chico city clerk. "They must reflect the name of the supporter stated on the voter registration card with their original signature."

Presson explained to the signer why she cannot accept the signature add-on.

At City Hall on Thursday night, after the Butte County Clerk’s Office deemed the signature invalid, the Chico voter’s group submitted their signatures to the City Clerk’s Office on the third floor, but the city clerk said their hands were tied.

The County Recorder’s Office stated that 4 out of 23 signatures were considered invalid, with only one mark missing.

"I will encourage you to fill out a new voter registration card, then update and correct it."

In a press release, the Chico voter group said that the county encouraged them to certify their signatures to the clerk's office, so they felt they were left behind.

"We will keep going," Morgan Kennedy said on the phone.

Kennedy, a spokesman for the organization, said they would try again.

"We have discussed this issue several times as a group, and we feel that the risk is too great, and we cannot give up our efforts or put it aside."

In a statement to Action News Now, Congressman Sean Morgan commented: “[Chico Voters team] should consider taking my class instead of constantly interrupting it. Their attacks on county and city clerk offices show that they The despair and unwillingness of the election to the law."

If the recall continues, they will need 2,424 valid signatures to compete for the seat of Congressman Morgan.

Mayor Andrew Coolidge’s recall letter was accepted, and he has 7 days to submit a rebuttal, which will be attached to the petition for signature collection.
