The government's attempt to pass the controversial voter status law before the next election now depends on a small number of cross-cutting lawmakers.

The Labour Party and the Green Party strongly oppose these laws, which the Labour Party calls "racists". Indigenous scholars and human rights organizations believe that the proposed voter identification law may prevent many indigenous people from exercising democratic voting rights.

The government now needs the support of One Nation, and the country has declared a boycott of the government bill unless the government takes action to prevent the states from compulsory vaccination in order to pass the bill. It also requires the support of Jacqui Lambie or Stirling Griff of the Center Alliance.

Today, please explain that the political journalist Katina Curtis joined Bianca Hall to discuss the controversial proposal. If they are to take effect in the next election, the proposal must pass the Senate next week.
