KUALA LUMPUR-After the Malacca State elections, the former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin’s National League (PN) did not seem to lose everything, but the opposition Pakatan Harapan (PH) leader Anwar Ibrahim’s future and The figures in other senior alliances are being questioned.

Analysts said that although PN has made progress in several seats in the state, it won only two of the 28 seats in the legislative assembly.

Huang Zhenfa, a political scientist at Sunway University, said in a Facebook post on Sunday: “PN not only won two seats, but also established itself as Umno in Tanjung Vidara, Telok Mas and many other Malay-majority constituencies. The preferred alternative."

"This victory means the BN-PN-PH tripartite competition in the 15th General Election (GE15)," he added. Barisan Nasional refers to the Barisan Nasional led by Umno, while Pakatan Harapan refers to Pakatan Harapan.

On Saturday, PN won Sungai Udang-BN's stronghold-and captured Bemban from PH.

It also achieved an impressive performance in Tanjung Bidara, another Barisan Nasional stronghold. Its chief minister candidate Mas Ermieyati Samsudin received 3,559 votes in the Barisan Nasional, while the Pakatan Harapan constituency only received 489 votes. Lost by 364 votes.

At a press conference on Saturday night, as the leader of the Malaysian National Unity Party and Barisan Nasional, Muhyiddin said that he will unswervingly decide to participate in the next general election in the name of Barisan Nasional.

He told reporters: "We believe that our principles and the foundations of the Turkish League and Barisan Nasional can support better governance."

The Malacca poll was triggered after four lawmakers defected from the Umno-led state government, which subsequently included allies from the Turks and Islamic Parties. Bersatu and PAS are the fortresses of the PN alliance, and they decided to participate in state polls under their own banner.

The end result is that the Barisan Nasional led by Umno cheered with 21 seats. PH will play a role in the remaining five.

A few hours after the final result was announced, Suleiman Ali, a Lendu member of the Barisan Nasional, was sworn in as the 13th Chief Minister of Malacca. The state executive committee lineup of the new government will be announced next week.

James Chin, director of the Institute of Asian Studies at the University of Tasmania, is also not surprised by the fact that the Barisan Nasional has occupied the Umno seat in the state elections.

"As far as the Barisan Nasional, especially the Tuan Party, these people are obviously former Umno people. They have been involved in politics for a long time. Compared with Umno, the Tuan Party lacks a mechanism," Professor Chen told the Straits Times. .

"In the past few years, even though they tried to build their machines, they have not caught up with Umno-this is a fatal problem," he said.

Professor Chin said that the results of Malacca will affect morale and prevent people from joining PN.

"If a (political) person has ambitions, it is better to join Umno than to take a risk in the Turkish League. This is a problem for them. Then it will be more difficult for them to establish mechanisms and attract more people to join them. Malacca is defeated," he Say.

The opposition Pakatan Harapan suffered the most on Saturday as it won 15 seats in the May 2018 general election.

There was an uproar on social media, with thousands of tweets calling on opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim to step down after his BJP performed poorly in polls. It lost all 11 seats in the competition. #Anwar also has a trend of more than 12,000 tweets on Weibo.

"Now is the time for Anwar, Limus and others to make way for the younger generation," said Twitter user orangasle. He was referring to other experienced Pakatan Harapan politicians such as DAP leader Lim Kit Siang and his son Guan Ying.

Mr. Anwar’s decision to bring the two insurgents to court in the former state assembly was controversial even within Pakatan Harapan. He did not comment on the results of Malacca.

PKR Vice Chairman Rafiz Ramli said on Twitter: “Don’t be overly sad or fail. There are valuable lessons behind the results of the Malacca poll. If PKR and Pakatan Harapan leaders learn from this result, let them go. It’s conceited, InsyaAllah (God Willing) GE15 would be better."

Professor Chen responded to the same point by saying: "If the political situation in the 15th general election remains the same, as Anwar leads the coalition now, I think they will fail in the 15th general election. Anwar has committed crimes in the past few years. Too many political mistakes over the years have made him look very bad. He lost Malacca and it seems that PKR will also lose in Sarawak (state elections)," he said.
