EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. -- As a part of Armed Forces Voter Week, June 27 - July 5, Team Eglin is encouraged to send in their federal post card applications on time for this year’s mid-term elections in November.

The Federal Voting Assistance Program here is facilitated by the Airman and Family Readiness Center.  It is the official resource for voter registration and absentee ballots for service members and their families, said Lona Berndt, AFRC voting assistance representative.

Armed Forces Voters Week is an opportunity to remind service members to vote in local elections  or by absentee ballot,” said Lona Berndt, Eglin voting assistance officer.

Egln has Unit Voting Assistance Officers in every unit to assist service members with their voting endeavors, she added.

The base’s goal during the week is to promote and increase awareness of the installation voting assistance program by helping eligible patrons to submit their FPCAs as soon as possible.

The FPCA is the primary method of communication between a person and their state’s election officials.  The information provided on the form is used by local election offices to determine if the applicant meets the respective state’s voter registration requirements.  By following a few simple steps, it secures voter registration and absentee ballots for all future elections.

Active duty members and dependents can visit www.FVAP.gov  at any time to complete a registration application and request their absentee ballot.
