The Recording Academy made several improvements to its online voting process this year. View changes.

We are now at the midpoint of the first round of voting for the 64th Grammy Awards. Voting starts at 9 am Pacific time on October 22 and ends at 6 pm Pacific time on November 5th.

Recording Academy has made several improvements to its online voting process to improve the experience of its 12,000 voting members.

The college is adopting the so-called "10-3" voting system. In addition to the general voting field consisting of four categories (album of the year, record and song, and best newcomer), voters can also choose up to 10 categories from up to three fields to vote. This tightening policy is designed to encourage voters to stick to the areas and categories they know best.

Through the voting portal, the college has increased the personalization of each user's vote. Voters can customize their votes by clicking on the field they choose to vote for. This way, they can easily view and browse the categories that are most relevant to them.

Voters’ ballots now provide a search box to find areas, artists, or categories they are interested in. Using the search tool, voting members can more easily browse the 22,000 entries on the ballot.

The upgraded ballot provides greater flexibility. Voters can select and deselect categories before final submission. Voters are free to change their ideas about the categories and areas they wish to vote for. The portal also allows users to save their choices, log out, and continue at different times.

This year’s vote included 86 categories—two more than last year—distributed in 25 areas. In addition to the six categories determined by the Special Nomination Committee-Best Mix Record and Best Immersive Audio Album (both in the production field) and Best Record Package, Best Boxed Edition or Special Limited Edition, voters can Free voting packages, best album notes and best historical albums in any category (all in the fields of packages, notes and history).
